Richard Gonzales
Offensive Coordinator, APEX PREMIER RED
Founder, Rare Ambitions Training
Coach, Next Play Bay Area
Coach Rich is a Southern California native who grew up competing in football, baseball, and wrestling, where he learned early how sports shape character, discipline, and resilience. He later moved to the Bay Area to pursue a degree in Nutritional Science at SFU, a path that deepened his understanding of human performance, recovery, and long-term athlete health.
Building on this foundation, Coach Rich founded Rare Ambitions Training, a performance-based training company designed to help athletes optimize their physical development through intentional training, proper movement, and nutrition-backed programming. For the past five years, Coach Rich has coached at Burlingame High School, working with running backs and linebackers while serving as the JV Defensive Coordinator. His experience also includes managing the freshman baseball team, assisting the JV baseball program as an outfielder and bench coach, and coaching a travel baseball team during the offseason. Across every role, his coaching philosophy has remained consistent: sports are a powerful vehicle for personal growth beyond the field.
In addition, Coach Rich is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, specializing in Sports Performance Training and Corrective Exercise. He is committed to teaching athletes how to move efficiently, train with purpose, and stay healthy throughout their careers.
Above all, Coach Rich’s mission is to develop complete athletes by instilling mental toughness, confidence, discipline, accountability, and self-belief. His goal is to help every athlete he works with grow into the best version of themselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally—both in sport and in life.
